I'm rocking a bump earlier with this pregnancy and so far I have pretty much recycled what I wore with the Bean. He was born at the start of the winter so I don't have a huge choice of colder weather clothes and boy have I been feeling frumpy. Stretchy tees and knits which are comfortable and can deal with the Bean's sticky fingers are practical, but hardly interesting, have been making the rounds. I have been feeling less than a yummy mummy. I needed something funky that could cope with my bump and made me feel like a fashionable human again, but checking out maternity stores left me depressed. I needed inspiration.
Bang on cue was this blog post by the fabulous Sonia Styling showing her in a tunic style dress. It was a light bulb moment for me. Shopping in 'normal' shops, why had I forgotten about this? When I found myself in a shopping center, I tracked down a Katie's store and got my happy little hands on a tunic for myself. Well, for only $29 it was rude not to!
I tried on a medium which was an OK fit, but I felt it didn't give me much room for bump expansion so I went up a size. The large gave me some wiggle room and if I want to wear this next winter my trusty sewing machine could help me take it in a touch.
We had friends round for a BBQ last weekend, which was the perfect excuse to get my tunic out for it's first of many outings. A few accessories (which I still need to find) will finish off the look, but it's comfy, not frumpy and made me feel fabulous!
