Food shopping has to be done, there is no way round that. TBM will not be happy to come home to beans on toast, but there has to be a cheaper way of filling the cupboards and fridge than constantly going to the big 2 food shops.
Last week I went into Aldi before I did my shopping in Woolies to see if I could pick up suitable cheaper options in there and save us some cash. After checking prices in Woolies (yes I did look like a crazy secret shopper writing down prices, I was waiting for security to escort me out!) I realised we had saved $10. Not that much, but I didn't get a lot of shopping there and it would still add up to a $520 saving over a year.
All the items I got were great quality so I don't feel we missed out on anything, so to hell with snooty shopping!
I will be a bit more prepared at how to attack the shopping and have a better idea of what they stock so might even get more things than last week. I’m sick of paying over the odds for things just because of a brand name, I wonder how much I can save with a second cheapskate shop. I’ll keep you posted!
